Deuce Bigalow - Opening sequence camera shots

This is an establishing long shot. This is shot number one of six of our story board. The way this shot is used to show to the audience the scene of the first shot and also gets the audience thinking about what is going to be happening within this setting. This shot will make you think that the first shot is taking place in the sea, but it's actually taking place an an aquarium. The setting of the aquarium is then shown in the following shots. This can contribute towards the comedy element of this opening sequence.
This is the second shot we picked out for analysis. This is a mid shot, showing the main character, Duece Bigalow, cleaning the window of an aquarium. It also shows the background setting that was established In the first shot - the establishing long shot. The mid shot allows the audience to see a part of the background as though from the perspective of someone behind the glass. At this point, from the audiences point of view, we cannot tell that this character is naked so there isn't a comical element about that yet, but the fact that he is under the cold water withought a top on using only a small window wiper as a  way to clean the glass, brings the comedy element in.
This is a medium/mid shot. This is the third of the six shots of our story board.  This shot brings in an obvious comedy element of seeing the main characters bum. The comedy element here also is that you can see the audiences reaction. This is funny as they are seeing the opposite side of Deuce Bigalow of what we see.

This is a long/wide shot which shows the whole character in frame. This is shot four out of six for our storyboard. This is a major comedy element since Deuce has been chucked out of the aquarium after being seen naked in one of the tanks and now people outside the aquarium can now see him naked. We chose this shot specifically since it shows Deuce getting his belongings thrown at him and you can see a mother with her kid on the right looking on at the scene.

This shot is another long/wide shot. This is shot five out of six for our storyboard and it shows an old woman falling down the stairs of the bus. What you don't know from this picture is that before she left the bus, Deuce walked down the stairs and dripped water on the steps; which resulted in the old woman slipping down the stairs. Even though you don't see this, it's still unexpected that the old woman was going to fall down the stairs, and this brings the comedy element in.
This shot is a point of view shot - the point of view in this case is Deuce Bigalow. This is  the final shot of our storyboard.
